ARAM Mayhem look like next mode, that players really enjoy. Because of that developer put a lot of work and effort to make it even better. We now have soma major changes, so check them now, to know what to expect in the game.
Traits Are Gone — Making Space for New Systems
Riot is removing Traits because they:
- pushed players into the same builds regardless of augments,
- reduced game-to-game variety,
- were often stronger than the champion itself,
- made individual augments feel less exciting.
Some fan‑favorite Traits return as standalone augments (e.g., Stackasaurus).
Big Focus on New Types of Augments
Ability Augments A new category that massively enhances one specific ability of a champion.
Examples:
- Multishot – adds extra projectiles (e.g., Lux Q hitting multiple enemies).
- Chain Reaction – knock-ups chain together and can extend CC when hitting terrain.
- These augments aim to create entirely new playstyles for familiar champions.
Quest Augments
Augments that give you a task, and once completed, reward you with a powerful bonus.
Examples:
- Quest: Tooth Fairy – dealing burst damage makes enemies “drop teeth,” granting Lethality and Magic Pen.
- Quest: Support Main – healing/shielding boosts ally health regen.
Balance Philosophy: Fun Over Perfect Fairness
Riot openly states:
- the goal is fun and freshness, not perfect balance,
- every champion should have a strong possible build, but not a guaranteed one,
- strong builds shouldn’t auto‑win games.
They plans to:
- rotate or remove augments that ruin the experience,
- add new augments to support weaker classes,
- buff underperforming augments,
- avoid nerfing everything that becomes popular.
The Future of Mayhem
The mode is here to stay. Riot is already working on:
- new seasonal systems
- more augments
- long‑term development for 2026 and 2027
It looks that fun will never end!
