What is a placement boost?

A placement boost is a booster playing your ranked placement games at the start of a season or after a reset. You pick how many of the set they play and where the account finished last time, and the games are played from there.

It is sold separately from a division boost because the games are worth more. Placement results move your visible rank and your hidden MMR at the same time, which normal ranked games do not.

Why placement games are worth more

At a season boundary your visible rank is taken away while the hidden MMR carries over. The placement set is where the system decides how much of that MMR to show you.

A clean set re-enters the ladder higher than the same rank climbed back up from the reset floor, which is why the first ten games are the cheapest LP you will ever buy.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?

Placements are priced per game and by the rank the account is placing at, because a placement lobby in Diamond is a different job from one in Silver. The calculator above prices the exact set before checkout.

A full set is usually played within a day or two. Priority order keeps the booster on it until the last game is done, which matters at the start of a season when everyone wants their rank early. Prices start at $1.60.

What can and cannot be promised

Nobody can promise a specific rank out of placements, because hidden MMR is weighed alongside the results and neither of us controls it. What is in our control is who plays them: a Master or higher player instead of whoever your own queue would have given you.

Solo or duo placements

• Solo placements: the booster plays the set for you, the fastest way through it.
• Duo placements: you play the games that decide your starting rank, with the booster in the lobby.
• Tier guarantee: puts a floor under the rank the set finishes on.
• Champions and roles: keeps the placement games in line with what the account normally plays.
• Moderate KDA: useful here, because placement scoreboards are the ones people look at.

Unranked accounts and returning accounts

An account that has never been ranked places from scratch, and the set decides everything about where it starts. An account with a previous rank places against that history, so its floor is higher and the set moves it less.

Fresh accounts usually need levelling before they can place at all, which is a separate order.

Placements are available for accounts returning at any tier from Iron to Challenger, on Europe West, Europe Nordic & East, North America, Brazil, Russia, Latin America North, Latin America South, Oceania, Turkey, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam and the Middle East.

After the placements

Once the set is done you can see where the account landed and decide whether the rest is worth buying. Most people place first, then cover the remaining distance as a division boost or as ranked wins.
