Best TFT Set 18 Comps in Patch 18.1

Elo-Boost Team7 min read

Set 18 is a few days old. Every tier list published before launch was a guess built on PBE numbers with different balance, and most have already been rewritten.

Here are the comps actually winning on live servers, with the boards, the items and the roll patterns.

The two comps at the top

Ahri-Morgana

A 4-cost fast 8 board, medium difficulty, and the strongest comp in the set right now.

Board: Ahri 3★ as the primary carry, Morgana 2★, Sett 2★ as the tank, plus Taric, Karma, Sentry, Krug and Sentinel.

Unit Items
Ahri (carry) Jeweled Gauntlet, Striker's Flail, Spear of Shojin
Morgana Void Staff, Morellonomicon
Sett (tank) Bramble Vest, Warmog's Armor, Dragon's Claw

Emblem: Invoker, on Ahri.

How to play it: look for 3 Blossom early and play for a win streak. Hold your AP items on Karma and transfer them to Ahri when you hit. Level to 8 and roll.

Augments: economy first, then item generation, then combat. Jeweled Lotus I and II, Glass Cannon Silver or Gold, FOURcing, Staffsmith, Cybernetic Uplink, Wand Overflow.

Defender Cassio

A 3-cost reroll board rated easy, which makes it the one to learn first if you are new to the set.

Board: Cassiopeia 3★ carries, with Rammus 3★, Fiddlesticks 3★ as an off-carry, plus Ornn, Lillia, Leona and Shen. Always play 6 Defender.

Unit Items
Cassiopeia (carry) Spear of Shojin, Hextech Gunblade, Archangel's Staff
Rammus (tank) Ionic Spark, Sunfire Cape, Steadfast Heart
Fiddlesticks (off-carry) Titan's Resolve, Adaptive Helm, Crownguard
Lillia Thief's Gloves

How to play it: open with a strong AP board, ideally around Invokers, or lose streak with Coven. If you are winning, level 6 at 3-2 and 7 at 3-5. On stage 4, roll at level 7 for Cassiopeia 2 and Fiddlesticks 2, then economy back up and slow roll above 50 gold for your three-stars. Level 8 at the end for a second carry: Ahri, Soraka or Alune all work.

The tier below

Five comps that are working without being top of the pile. They are not interchangeable, so pick by what the game gives you.

Moon Fire (Aphelios)

Medium difficulty, built around AD tempo.

  • Aphelios: Red Buff is best in slot, with Deathblade and Giant Slayer. Rageblade, Infinity Edge and Kraken's Fury is the attack-speed alternative.
  • Brambleback: Edge of Night, Quicksilver, Sterak's Gage
  • Plan: win streak on stage 2 with Rapidfires, slam items aggressively, level 8 and roll on stage 3 to 4. Only push level 9 once your four-costs are upgraded.

Soraka Flex (Malphite)

4-cost fast 8, medium. The flexible line rather than a forced one.

  • Core: Malphite plus Azir plus 2 Flora Fatalis for the healing
  • Malphite: Gargoyle Stoneplate, Warmog's Armor, Crownguard
  • Soraka: Rabadon's Deathcap, Adaptive Helm, Void Staff
  • Zyra: Spear of Shojin, Jeweled Gauntlet, Striker's Flail
  • Plan: open AP around Blossom, add three-costs on stage 3 and flex around their traits. The guidance on the roll down is worth repeating: itemise whoever you actually hit rather than tunnelling.

TFT Set 18 item builds

Adaptor Reroll (Master Yi)

3-cost reroll, medium.

  • Master Yi: Guinsoo's Rageblade, Edge of Night, Titan's Resolve
  • Kog'Maw: Spear of Shojin, Rabadon's Deathcap, Jeweled Gauntlet
  • Vi: Warmog's Armor and two Gargoyle Stoneplate
  • Plan: Master Yi opener for the win streak, stabilise through stages 2 and 3, full roll down at level 7.
  • Gains roughly a full tier with an Artifact or Brawler emblem.

Solar Kayle

2-cost reroll rated easy, and the other good entry point into the set.

  • Kayle: Guinsoo's Rageblade, Navori Flickerblade, Rabadon's Deathcap
  • Ornn: Gargoyle Stoneplate, Warmog's Armor, Spirit Visage
  • Xayah: Guinsoo's Rageblade, Red Buff, Deathblade
  • Plan: roll at 3-1 to finish a one-cost three-star for bench space, then slow roll above 50 gold at level 5.
  • Kayle carries 20% shred built in at 2★, which is why the comp works before she is fully online.

Cashout Morgana

Rated hard, and the only one here that punishes you for playing it badly.

  • Morgana: Morellonomicon, Rabadon's Deathcap, Void Staff
  • Needs the Invoker emblem, held on Alune, and 4 Invoker
  • Plan: lose streak deliberately, then cash out and roll at level 8 for Morgana 2. The difficulty is entirely in timing the cashout.

Below all of this sit Adaptor Nidalee, Elderwood Executioners, Dragon Princess, Caitlyn Hunters and the Pebbles tempo boards. Playable, not worth forcing.

If you are new to the set, start here

Two comps are rated easy, and they are opposite ends of the roster:

  • Defender Cassio, a 3-cost reroll that also happens to be top tier
  • Solar Kayle, a 2-cost reroll that stabilises earlier than anything else

Both reroll, which means you are rolling at a fixed level rather than judging a fast 8 window. That is one fewer decision to get wrong while you are still learning what 65 new champions do.

Avoid Cashout Morgana until you know the set. It is the one comp here where a mistimed cashout loses the game outright.

Wisps decide more than the tier list does

Every site will hand you the same comp names. Almost none explain where the placements actually come from in this set.

Wisps appear in the rightmost shop slot every other round, cost one purchase per round, and can only be bought during the planning phase. The detail that changes how you play: from Stage 5, every other Wisp is a Combat Wisp.

So the mechanic switches job halfway through. Early it is economy and tempo. Late it is a fight-winner. Two boards that look even on paper are not even if one banked the right Wisps from Stage 5.

Blossom is the only trait that touches them directly, empowering your Wisps after combat. Notice how often Blossom appears in the openers above: Ahri-Morgana wants 3 Blossom early, Soraka Flex opens around it, and the Adaptor Reroll guidance calls Blossom powerful specifically for early economy and item Wisps.

That is not a coincidence. It is the same trait doing the same job in three different comps.

We covered the mechanic, the traits and the engine change in our Set 18 Enchanted Wilds breakdown.

Champion shop and cost tiers

Playing a meta this young

Do not force from turn one. Take the strongest items and units in front of you and let the lobby show you what is open.

Contested beats optimal. A top-tier comp four other players are building finishes worse than a mid-tier one nobody is touching. In week one everybody is reading the same three tier lists, so the best comps are also the crowded ones.

Learn the Wisp timings before the comps. The comps will change with the first balance patch. The mechanic will not.

Play now rather than later. The ladder is compressed after the set reset and nobody has solved anything. Lobbies will not be this soft again this year.

Frequently asked questions

Ahri-Morgana, a 4-cost fast 8 board with Ahri carrying Jeweled Gauntlet, Striker's Flail and Spear of Shojin, and an Invoker emblem on Ahri.

Defender Cassio and Solar Kayle are both rated easy. Defender Cassio is also top tier, so it is the better first pick.

Jeweled Gauntlet, Striker's Flail and Spear of Shojin, with Void Staff and Morellonomicon on Morgana alongside her.

Level 7 on stage 4 for Cassiopeia 2 and Fiddlesticks 2, then economy up and slow roll above 50 gold for your three-stars before levelling to 8 for a second carry.

Cashout Morgana. It is rated hard because it depends on a deliberate lose streak and on timing the cashout correctly.

Yes. From Stage 5 every other Wisp is a Combat Wisp, and Blossom is the only trait that empowers them, which is why Blossom openers show up across several of the strongest comps.

Very. Four of the seven comps above are rerolls, and the three-cost tier is the deepest in the set at 14 units.

Climb while the lobbies are soft

The first two weeks of a set are the softest ranked games you will see all year. The ladder is compressed after the reset, nobody has solved the meta, and one comp learned properly beats seven players guessing.

That window closes quickly. If you would rather be sitting in a high rank when it does, our TFT boosters started on day one: TFT division boost.

Comp standings and builds as of August 2026, from the opening days of Set 18. A meta this young moves daily, so check a live tracker before locking an item build.
