Why the first games of a set matter

Every set resets visible rank while the hidden rating carries across, and placement lobbies weigh heavily on where you re-enter the ladder. Playing them well puts you above the floor everyone else is climbing out of.

That is why placements are sold separately rather than folded into a climb: the games are worth more than ordinary ranked lobbies. Prices start at $2.40.

How the order runs

You choose how many placement games to have played and where the account finished last set. A TFT main plays the set on the current patch, and each game lands on your order page with its placement as it completes.

The patch matters here more than anywhere

A new set means new units, new items and a meta that is still being solved. A booster who has been playing since the set launched knows which comps are actually winning lobbies this week, which is precisely what a placement run needs.

After placements

Once the set is done you can see where the account landed and decide whether the rest is worth buying, either as a full climb or as ranked wins.
