League of Legends

Slowly we rolled into the last thematic season this year! In the newest patch we start third chapter of current ranked season. Check below what it means for all the League of Legends players. For some things you waited for a long time!

Season 3 Launch and Map Updates

Patch 25.17 ushers in Season 3, restoring the standard Summoner’s Rift map and reactivating Doom Bots. Alongside these major map changes, it features a substantial visual overhaul for Xin Zhao and the introduction of a new Season 3 Act 1 Battle Pass. The update also resets Arena Fame and applies balance tweaks to ARAM, while expanding the roster of viable strategies with jungle Vayne, jungle Sett, AP Irelia, and lane Kayn options.

Doom Bots and Trials of Doom

Riot has brought back the PvE mode Doom Bots with revamped bosses, bots, curses, and a new difficulty setting. The first “Trial of Doom” Veigar’s Evil, grants bots his Phenomenal Evil passive and permanent curses, challenging players to survive 15 minutes against powered-up bots before facing Veigar himself. Completing all Trials rewards the exclusive title “Definitely Not a Bot.”

Battle Pass and Ranked Season

The new Seasonal Battle Pass now spans 48 levels (down from 50) with unchanged XP requirements, offering rewards like Darkin Orbs, champion permanents, Arcana and Prestige skins, Hextech chests, and Mythic and Orange Essence. Season 3 Ranked started August 27 at 12:00 noon local server time; LP progression carries over, but the Victorious mission resets. Ranked queues were offline for about 12 hours, and shard transfers temporarily disabled until end-of-season reward distribution completes.

Champion Visual and Lore Updates

Atakhan gains a visual weapon with no gameplay changes.

Xin Zhao receives updated models, animations, ability icons, VFX, SFX, and voiceover, plus a price bump on his Commando and Imperial skins (520 RP→750 RP). Unvaulted skins return through Patch 25.18, and a new champion theme debuts August 29.

Xin Zhao’s Universe page will be updated to reflect his lore progression through the 2025 seasonal story arc.

Game Info Tracking Improvements

Riot is integrating popular third-party app features directly into the client for fair access:

Minimap Jungle Timers: Basic view shows epic camp timers (other camps appear at 30s and 10s before respawn), full timers shown while holding TAB; Advanced view displays all camp timers by default.

Death Recap & Spell Tracking: Death Recap moves to a side panel with show/hide toggle, details ultimates and summoner spells used against you (including non-damaging spells like Flash), and allows descriptive ping text in chat. It also displays your fight contribution (damage, CC, gold earned).

Balance Changes Highlights

Key champion adjustments include:

Buffs: AP ratios for Irelia, Kassadin; mana cost reductions for Kayn; damage boosts for Kog’Maw, Miss Fortune, Morgana, Senna; monster-damage buffs for Sett and jungle-viable Vayne.

Nerfs: Gwen’s armor and slow downsized; Master Yi’s health and Q on-hit reduced; Rumble’s Flamespitter and Overheated damage lowered; Singed’s Poison Trail duration trimmed.

Jungle viability trials for Vayne, Sett, and Nilah receive monster damage tweaks.

Item buffs for assassin legendaries Axiom Arc, Horizon Focus, and Profane Hydra via cost reductions and stat increases.

Arena and ARAM Updates

Arena Season 3: Reward track overhauled with 12 new augments, merged ban/pick phase, extended pick timers (35s→40s), and QoL changes like static hats and improved augment displays.

ARAM Balance: Fighter-item buffs and assassin-item tweaks, targeted champion buffs (Kai’Sa, Maokai, Shyvana, Ziggs) and item adjustments (Death’s Dance, Eclipse, Edge of Night, Liandry’s, Ravenous Hydra, Sterak’s, Stridebreaker, Youmuu’s).

Map Rotations: ARAM maps now have equal selection odds (33.3% each).

Skins: Sanctum Mythic Variants (e.g., Admiral Battle Bunny MF) return in a 40-pull format with limited icon and emote, plus five vaulted Doom Bots skins (Zombie Slayer Jinx, Underworld Wukong, Reaper Soraka, Zombie Brand, Little Demon Tristana) available until Patch 25.20, with special chromas arriving later.

Custom Games and Bugfixes Quality-of-life improvements include:

Fixed ‘Play Again’ button, enabled voice chat without spectators, lobby game-mode switching without recreation, and lobby hiding from public lists.

Custom ARAM for Howling Abyss works like match-made mode.

New SFX for pick order/role swap and base turret VFX updates.

Honor progression adjusted for non-SR modes.

Dozens of bugfixes across champions, items, and client stability.

Upcoming Prestige and chroma releases: Prestige Visions of the Fallen Jarvan IV, Visions of the Fallen Garen and Tryndamere, Elderwood Alistar, Arcana Lulu and Jhin, plus their chromas.
