Patch 17.1 officially launches Set 17: **Space Gods**, introducing a cosmic theme where players align with divine entities to gain unique boons and loot. It’s a major systems update with new mechanics, ranked resets, and sweeping balance changes.
**Core Updates**
*New Set Mechanic — Realm of the Gods*: Replaces the Carousel. Players choose between two gods’ offerings (plus Pengu’s generic one), each providing components and later a Boon Armory at stage 4‑7. Gods periodically drop loot throughout the game.
*Ranked Reset*: Season starts fresh with provisional matches (no LP loss for bottom 4). Challenger and Grandmaster slots expanded across all regions.
*Space Gods Pass*: Free and paid progression tracks with emotes, Little Legends, portals, and realm crystals.
*Cosmetics & Cinematic*: New Space Gods‑themed visuals, Little Legends, and a cinematic reveal.
**System & Gameplay Changes**
*Targeting & Movement*: Smarter AI keeps carries focused on nearby targets.
*Surrendering*: Matches now play out even if a player surrenders; placement adjusted fairly.
*Keyword Reworks*: “Chill” → “Slow”, “Dazzle” → “Weaken”, “Precision” replaces “Spells can critically strike”.
*Four‑Star Scaling*: Ability damage increased from 1.33× to 1.7× of 3‑star values.
*Encounters*: Temporarily removed; returning in Patch 17.2.
**Augments**
*Removed*: Over 40 outdated augments (e.g., Double Trouble, Radiant Relics, Destiny tiers).
*Returning*: Fan favorites like Celestial Blessing, Cybernetic Implants/Uplink (reworked), Tiny Titans, Second Wind, Sunfire Board.
*Adjusted*: Balance tweaks across Silver, Gold, and Prismatic tiers; new Silver tier for Vampiric Vitality.

*Tank Item Nerfs*: Reduced multiplicative scaling to discourage single super‑tank metas. Bramble Vest, Dragon’s Claw, Gargoyle Stoneplate all weakened.
*Radiant Items*: Adjusted to match new balance philosophy.
*New Artifacts*: Each god gains a signature item (e.g., Ahri’s Aura, Kayle’s Exaltation, Thresh’s Lantern, Varus’s Obsession).
*Artifact Adjustments*: Buffs to Lich Bane, Titanic Hydra, Statikk Shiv, and others.
**Ranked & Rewards**
Expanded high‑tier slots per region. New ranked rewards tied to Lore & Legends progression. Mobile patch rollout delayed by 24 hours post‑PC release.
