# **Check what's coming next to Classic mode**
Adam Inko·August 5, 2026·1 min read
Classic game mode bring back a lot of memories! For some of you these thoughts came with hunger - hunger for more. Soon your wishes will be fulfilled because there is more on the way, and two days ago we learned what we can expect in an upcoming patch.
**New Champions Added**
*Akali*
- Restored her old classic kit (pre-rework).
- Burst‑focused assassin gameplay.
- Classic energy mechanics.
*Kennen*
- Classic energy mage version.
- Strong AoE teamfight identity preserved.
- Old ability behavior restored.
*Shen*
- Old-school global ultimate returns.
- Tanky, supportive playstyle from early seasons.
- Classic taunt and defensive identity.
**Community Tools**
- Introduction of The Council (player feedback system).
- In‑client surveys coming soon to gather broad player opinions.
- Emphasis on data-driven decisions, not Reddit-driven feedback.
**Gameplay System Changes**
- Adjusted gold generation.
- Tuned respawn timers.
- Updated stat scaling across levels.
- Added energy-based runes to support energy champions.
Overall pacing tweaks to resemble old seasons but remain modern and readable.
**Art & Visual Updates**
- Updated lighting across the map (“we moved the sun”).
- Improved color balance and contrast.
- Refined textures to make Classic look cleaner while staying retro.
General polish to make the game more readable without losing the old-school vibe.
**Balance Philosophy for Patch 1**
- Winrate data hidden to preserve discovery and reduce meta-gaming.
- Balancing based on specific context, not community noise.
- Acknowledgment that many champions behave differently than players remember (e.g., Heimerdinger needs nerfs, Kassadin doesn’t).
**Champion Buffs**
- Buffs to champions underperforming in Classic’s pacing.
- Adjustments to outdated kits to make them viable in modern readability standards.
Buffs will come for Alistar, Amumu, Dr. Mundo, Garen, Lux and more.
**Champion Nerfs**
- Nerfs to overtuned champions whose old kits scale too well in Classic.
- Specific callouts: Heimerdinger being unexpectedly strong.
There will be 19 balance changes total (buffs + nerfs).
