# **Best Solo Queue Champions in Patch 26.16**

Not every strong champion is a good climbing champion. Some picks have a brilliant win rate in the hands of a one-trick with 400 games, and do absolutely nothing for the player who just picked them up last night.
A climbing champion is different. It wins games without needing your team to cooperate, it stays useful when you are behind, and it does not collapse the moment you make one mistake.
Here are the champions that actually do that in patch 26.16.
## The five best champions to climb with right now
If you play below Diamond and you want the shortest path upward, these five are the strongest options in the game today:
1. **Nasus** (Top)
2. **Graves** (Jungle)
3. **Viktor** (Mid)
4. **Jinx** (ADC)
5. **Lulu** (Support)
Nasus in particular is having a moment. Patch 26.16 changed his Q stacking so that regular minions now grant four stacks instead of three. That sounds small. It is not: it means he reaches the point where his Q one-shots waves significantly faster, and Nasus has always been a champion who wins purely by surviving to his power spike.
## Best climbing champions by role
### Top lane
**God tier: Nasus, Malphite, Garen**
This is a dream patch for players who want to climb top lane without heavy mechanical demands. All three of these champions share the same quality: they are extremely hard to lose with, even when the matchup goes badly.
- **Nasus**: Post-buff, he is the best top laner in the game. Farm your Q, survive lane, take over the mid game.
- **Malphite**: The single most reliable answer to AD-heavy enemy teams, and his ultimate creates fights your team cannot misplay.
- **Garen**: Almost impossible to punish in lane and lethal against squishy carries.
If you are stuck in a low tier and top lane is your role, Nasus is the pick.
### Jungle
**God tier: Nocturne, Briar, Shyvana, Graves**
The current jungle meta rewards champions that make decisions for their team rather than waiting for the team to make good ones.
- **Nocturne**: His ultimate isolates a target and removes vision, which wins games at every rank below Diamond.
- **Briar**: Enormous solo carry potential and very forgiving when you are behind.
- **Shyvana**: Fast clear, strong objective control, scales into a genuine threat.

- **Xerath**: Long-range poke that lets you contribute without taking risks.
- **Fizz**: For players who want to hard-carry and delete a carry outright.
- **Malzahar**: Special mention as the lowest-effort mid in the game. His ultimate is a point-and-click answer to the fed assassin ruining your games.
### Bot lane
**God tier: Caitlyn, Jinx, Twitch**
Patch 26.16 deliberately pushed mages out of bot lane by raising ADC magic resistance across the board. Marksmen have taken the lane back, and these three benefit most.
- **Jinx**: The strongest snowball ADC. One won fight and her reset effect takes over the game.
- **Caitlyn**: Controls the lane from a range where nothing can punish her.
- **Twitch**: Highest raw carry ceiling, especially in uncoordinated lobbies where nobody tracks him.
### Support
**God tier: Leona, Thresh, Seraphine**
Holding position for a second consecutive patch, which is unusual and a strong signal of stability.
- **Leona**: Engage support that creates kills instead of hoping for them. The best support to climb with if your ADC is unreliable.
- **Thresh**: Highest skill expression, but wins games single-handedly through hooks and lantern saves.
- **Seraphine**: Safe, high-value, and heals through the poke damage that decides bot lane.
## What makes a champion good for climbing
If you take one thing from this page, take this: **pick fewer champions and play them more.**
The most common reason players stay stuck is champion overload, swapping picks after every loss. It feels like adapting. It is actually resetting your progress every few games, because you never accumulate enough repetitions to play any of them well.
Beyond that, a genuinely good climbing pick has three traits:
**It does not depend on your team.** Champions that need a coordinated follow-up are a gamble in solo queue. Champions that create their own opportunities are not.
**It stays relevant behind.** Losing lane happens. Nasus, Malphite and Malzahar all remain useful with a bad early game. Many high-skill picks do not.
**It is simple enough that you can think about the map.** Every point of attention spent on mechanics is attention not spent on macro. Simple champions genuinely outperform complex ones below Diamond, because they free you up to make better decisions.
